Now I Understand Why The Story Can't Be Rushed.

As people, especially women, there is something in us that wants to know how the story ends from the very beginning. We want clarity. We want guarantees. We want timelines. We want to skip to the part where it all makes sense. But our life journeys are stories written by God, and how good is a story if there are no moments of suspense, highs, lows, and anticipation? We have to allow the story to unfold to experience the true goodness of a perfectly written story.
Control is connected to trust. We want to control things because we don’t trust. Control feels safe. It feels like protection and certainty. Sometimes we don’t trust simply because we know what it’s like to be let down. We know what it’s like to trust someone or something, and then it does not pan out the way we thought it was supposed to. It’s in our DNA to desire safety and security, and when we don’t have it, we begin to put up barriers and question everything!
But God is never going to fail us. We can trust Him. God actually never asked us to be in control; He told us to have faith and to trust Him.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8
We can trust Him because of his track record. He has never ever failed us. There are times in life when everything just seems out of place. We don’t know what God is up to, and it almost feels like He has forgotten about us. The road ahead feels unsure, and the plan seems uncertain. But there is a shift that happens when we begin to release our need for immediate understanding and answers. If we rush through the story, we miss the important parts. We miss the moments that teach us and prepare us the most, just like if we rush a book, we miss the details that give it depth and meaning. God doesn’t always reveal it right away; He has to wait for the perfect moment. The moment when we are truly ready to receive understanding.
When we allow the story to unfold, we begin to see things differently. We begin to notice connections we hadn’t seen before. We start to notice glimpses of reasoning, purpose, and answers. What once seemed confusing begins to make sense. It becomes clear how those moments from chapter 4 of the story have prepared us for chapter 12. God connects what felt unrelated and unnecessary previously into something intentional and more beautiful than we could have imagined. We find ourselves smiling at the warmth that our Father, the Author, provides, and we realize He was writing with purpose all along.

This kind of clarity is refreshing but not because we forced it, but because we trusted God enough to reveal the story in His timing.
I’m grateful that God used a season of my life where I had to release control and trust Him. It allowed me to experience an intimacy with Him that I never had before. It allowed me to form a testimony that anchored me in his goodness and faithfulness. It allowed me to trust His plan for my life more than ever before.
The ability to trust God in the chapters that seem like cliff hangers and unanswered questions changes everything. The anxiety begins to decrease, everyday moments become more enjoyable, and we begin to experience God in ways we never have before. We begin to experience the Lord in the unfolding and turning of every page, not just in the ending.
God is so gracious to us. He weaves together a story that is so beautiful and personal to each and every one of us. When we stop rushing to the end, we allow Him time to craft something beautiful and make it better than we could ever imagine.
Jesus replied, ‘You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.’ John 13:7
Spending true time with God cannot be rushed. A good story is worth every page. God is the best Author and the greatest storyteller. He creates the best stories that always point to His goodness and for His glory.
So friend, if you find yourself feeling a bit disoriented and out of place, just know that God is still writing your story. And it’s a good one! Trust me, I know💞
If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3
I am so grateful for the story God is unfolding.

This was such a good read Chels! It’s definitely easier said than done to release control, it’s scary not knowing what’s next or how the story ends. I’ve found though, there’s also so much beauty and calmness that comes with knowing your life is in the hands of someone so much bigger than you, who just happens to love you through infinity.
