Fear is a setback !
Fear is from the enemy.PERIODT. There is no other way to put it and it is something that we must fight against daily!! I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel as though fear is Satan’s most used weapon when trying to distract us from God’s best. I can’t even tell you how many times the devil has kept me distracted by throwing untrue-fabricated thoughts into my head. I’m sure we will discuss this a lot in posts to come.
How many times in the bible does God say the words “Do not fear”? Too many to remember. It is the most repeated command in His Word that was left for us. I wonder if it is because he knew that it would be something his people would struggle with consistently. It’s like constantly telling a child “make sure you say please and thank”, God has to repeatedly remind us “Do not be afraid”. One of my very favorite scriptures is Isaiah 43:1-2. It reads:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
Wow!!! This scripture blows my mind every time I read it. It’s a reassurance. A comfort. An example of what love is. There are several key points that can drawn from this one verse. 1. Fear Not: simple. Do not be afraid.
2. God has redeemed you. (This one is my favorite!)
3. You have been called BY name. God called you SPECIFICALLY!
4. You belong to Him. God’s got you! You are HIS!
5. When things begin to pile up, you will not drown/sink. When the load gets to heavy, hand it over to God!
6. When you go through what seems may take you out, you will not be burned!
7. The Lord, your God will save you!
My main point is: Fear is a big , but God is BIGGER!
