Taste and See

Try God for yourself.

TASTE and SEE that the Lord is good. Psalm 34:8

It is so easy for us to get caught up in quick quotes and inspirational posts that we see on social media. We have bad days and bad moments, then we get on social media, see a quote, repost it, cheer up, and move on. There are a million quotes floating around and there will always be one that will pop up at the right time, that speaks to our flesh. ( I talked about this in a previous post) But God’s word is living. God wants us to experience him. He doesn’t want us to simply quote him and move on, he wants us to sit in his presence.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

God wants us to have a relationship with him. He doesn’t want us to just skim him and search for the things that we feel will be beneficial in the moment. His Word is not just meant to make us feel better, it is meant to change us. To mold us. Once he changes our hearts, our actions will follow.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

We must be careful of the things that we allow to settle in our thoughts. Not every feel-good quote, is good. And although our flesh may agree with something we see, we must align it with the Word of God.

It’s like the saying “You don’t know until your try.” You don’t really know Jesus until you try him for yourself! Don’t just take my word for it, your mom’s word for it, your pastor’s word for it, or that person off IG. Trying Jesus means you must trust him, and in order to trust him, you have to get to know him. Like any other relationship, you must invest time. When you spend time learning about the character of God, you begin to see things through a different lens.

To see that something is good, you must really pay attention to it. Take in all the details. So set, your eyes on Jesus. Sit in his goodness. To taste something you must experience its flavor. Indulge in his glory. Taste and see that the Lord is good! When something is good, you feel led to share that experience with others!

❤️.
